Yes I did. My car had 75,000 miles and the pistons looked fine and my target was "only" 420 RWHP. Stock pistons should hold this power.
:Were the pistons and cylinders in good enough shape to reuse them? Did you measure the cylinder bore for taper and out of round? And did you atleast put in new piston rings?
The cylinders were in good shape. There was NO ridge where the rings stop at the top of the bore. If there would have been a ridge I would have rebored the cylinders. It didn't feel right to have them bored for no reason. I had the cylinders checked by a machine shop and they said they were fine. They were rehoned so the new rings would seat.

:Was your crank in good condition, enough to where you just replaced bearings with OEM of the correct grade?
I plasti-gauged the rods and crank with new OEM bearings (grades according to block and crank). All fell within spec. Before my tear-down there were no knocks or anything. I rebuilt due to an exhaust valve leak. Additionally, the turbos needed to be replaced. So while the engine was out you start checking other things and one thing leads to another.

:Lastly, what did you do specifically with your heads? Did they need any kind of work, and where did you get it done?

IPP rebuilt the heads. I put new lifters in. I kept the stock cams.

:Sorry for the newbish questions! I'm in the middle of my rebuild right now, taking it at a snails pace by the manual, step by step. Just looking for input from the more experienced!

No problem. Take your time. Ask questions. Note: I purchased a book: Engine Builder's Handbook by Tom Monroe. It explains engine rebuilding in general. Worth a read.
